President: Robin Tentoni, RN, MSN, CRNI

Robin Tentoni received her BSN from Southern CT State College in 1982 and her MSN from The University of Hartford in 2000.  Her initial clinical focus in nursing was in orthopedics and pediatric ICU.  Robin then focused her career in the Emergency Department setting, beginning as a staff nurse and then advancing to Nurse Manager and subsequently Director of Nurses.  In 2003, she changed her clinical and managerial focus from the ER setting to Home Infusion Therapy.  She is presently the Nurse Manager for Option Care, a home infusion therapy company.  Robin achieved her CRNI in September 2007.  In 2007, Robin joined the CT Chapter INS working on the Ad Hoc Committee and she has served on the CT INS board ever since. Presidential Advisor: Colleen Podraza, RN

Colleen received her B.A. in Liberal Studies from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and her BSN from Rhode Island College. For fourteen years, Yale New Haven Hospital's Labor & Delivery unit was Colleen's "home away from home" where she learned the art of obstetrical nursing, as well as the roles of charge nurse, educator, triage nurse and C-Section Coordinator. Wanting a change of scenery and new challenges, Colleen joined Walgreen's Home Infusion Services team in 2010 and has never looked back! President-Elect and Treasurer: Shawn Smith, RN, CRNI, OCN

Shawn Smith began her nursing career in 1994. She spent her initial career in sub-acute rehab & LTC before moving into the hematology/oncology area. Shawn spent 10 years in hem/onc, 6 years at the New London Cancer Center followed by 4 years at Oncology & Hematology Associates in New London where she advanced to the position of nurse manager of the outpatient chemotherapy clinic and developed a chemotherapy patient education packet for the clinic to address patients frequently asked questions. During that period Shawn also held a per-diem position with Hospice Southeastern CT.  Since 2006 to the present Shawn has been employed by Option Care.  She enjoys the variety of skills required in home infusion, from midline & peripheral IV placements to patient education. Shawn obtained her OCN certification in 1999, and her CRNI in 2007. Shawn has served on the CT Chapter INS Board form many years as treasurer and is serving her second three year presidential term. Secretary: Karen Kachoulas, RN, MSN

Karen Kachoulas received her BSN from Fairfield University in 1982 and her MSN in Oncology Nursing from Yale University in 1988. She began her nursing career as an Oncology Nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital in 1982 until 1999 where she entered the wonderful world of home infusion nursing, working per diem for many home infusion companies including Walgreen's Infusion, Professional Home Care Services, Accredo Therapeutics, Caremark, ADIMA Bioscrip, and Dohmen Life Sciences. She was also a Clinical Oncology Nurse Specialist at Danbury Hospital for 2 years. She currently is faculty at the Yale University School of Nursing, precepting Graduate Entry Pre-Specialty Nursing Students on a Medical unit at Yale New Haven Hospital since Fall 2015. Karen achieved her CRNI in 2012. She is currently a Clinical Nurse Liaison for Option Care Infusion since 2010 and is stationed at Yale New Haven Hospital. Membership Chairperson: Judith Caruso, RN

Judi started her health care career in Connecticut as a paramedic in 2002, she became a nurse in 2004, and enjoyed her transition into highly skilled and fast pace of ER and ICU nursing. In 2014 Judy started her current role in home infusion nursing. This is Judy’s first endeavor at participating on a board of directors, and she is thrilled to have an opportunity to serve the Connecticut INS Chapter. To contact Judi email:




Vendor Chairperson: Leslie Leon, RN, BSN,CRNI, ACIG

Leslie Leon received her BSN in 1987 from the University of Rochester and, in 2005, achieved her Certificate in Gerontology from Western Connecticut State University. Her background includes pediatric, adult, and geriatric clinical and management positions at Yale-New Haven Hospital, Hartford Hospital, and alternate care settings. In 1995, she founded High Tech Nursing Services, a CT-based nursing company providing IV insertion, education, and consultation services. In 2000, she created Innovative IV, LLC, an education and consulting company focused on promoting excellence in infusion nursing and pharmacy care. Innovative IV provides IV Program Management and Consultation, Custom Education, and Expert Legal Review for national as well as local customers. In 2006, Leslie was a Poster Presenter at the INS National meeting, and, in 2007, Leslie presented at the NHIA Annual Seminar in Savannah, Ga. on the topic: “Top 10 Tips for New Home Infusion Nurses.” Leslie has been an active member of the CT Chapter INS serving in multiple roles as Seecretary, President, Membership Chair, Newsletter Editor, member of the LTC PICC Committee, and VAD Tracking Form Chair. Internet Chairperson: Alice Cennamo, RN, BSN, CRNI, CPI, VA-BC

Alice Cennamo began her nursing career in 1992 after graduating from Norwalk Community Technical College in Connecticut with an ASN degree with high honors. She completed her BSN degree at Sacred Heart University, and is currently enrolled in Sacred Heart University's Masters in Nursing Education program and is on track to earn the MSN in December 2017. Alice has worked in infusion and vascular access nursing since 1996. She became nationally certified as a CRNI in 2001, as a pwhlebotomy instructor in 2002, and in vascular access as a VA-BC in 2011.  Alice started PICC Resource Associates, LLC in 2003, a vascular access training and IV/PICC nursing service company. She continues to run the company today offering infusion and vascular access education, and clinical services.  Prior to PICC Resource, Alice's work background included clinical and leadership positions in multiple settings including positions as PICC/IV Team Charge Nurse, and Coordinator of IV and Phlebotomy in staff development.  Alice has served the Connecticut INS Chapter in her current role as the Chapter's Internet Chair since 2006, and previously as Membership Chair, and within a three year Presidential term.
